Layout - 'Billy's n-gauge'
a scenic model railways layout –
Billy's n-gauge
Built in 2005 for a 6 year old boy, the 5'6" x 3' layout runs on castors and lives under his bed when not in use.
Trackwork is Peco n-gauge, fully ballasted. Inner and outer circuits form a 'folded figure 8' giving a good long run. The trackplan features station loops and a goods yard and loco shed.
Points are manually operated, so wiring is limited to the track feeds. A Gaugemaster twin track controller plugs into the baseboard.
The buildings are off-the-shelf items, the road bridge is Peco, and the tunnel entrances are Peco and others. The station over-bridge was scratch built with Peco girders. Station platforms were scratch build with the footbridge modified from two Kestrel kits.
